St Mary's & St John Bosco

the Parish of St Mary and St John Bosco, Leicester.

St Mary's & St John Bosco Parish - Our Churches  getting ready to open for Mass.

Our Churches are currently closed but the Government has given the go ahead for Churches to open if they put in place measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

In anticipation of opening our Churches we will need volunteers to act as marshals and to assist with cleaning before and after services.

Volunteers will need to complete a volunteer registration form and there is an upper age limited recommended of 70 years, unless you feel healthy and wish to volunteer. Volunteers should not be on the clinically extremely vulnerable category.

To plan fully, it would be really helpful to have some idea how many can commit to volunteering. If you feel able to help, please email the Parish Office and we will contact you. A meeting will follow then to explain the various tasks you will be required to help with and training will be given. We would like to have names by October 16th and we hope to begin training on October 26th.

Volunteers - Will need to be able to assist people to complete the track and trace form on arrival, follow the our Parish guidance to ensure Covid safety on sanitising and ensuring social distancing, guide people to their seat, and ensure they leave the building safely afterwards. It will also be necessary to clean all the surfaces after Mass. PPE and cleaning materials will be provided.

If we have enough volunteers the commitment will not be too onerous. AT LEAST 2 volunteers are required to be at each Mass.

While our Churches are closed your Mass intentions are being fulfilled and you can find a list of Mass intentions for this week on our parish newsletter.

There is the opportunity to stream Mass live from St Thomas More Church in Knighton or from other parishes in our Diocese. To do this follow the links by going back to our home page.

When our Churches do reopen, St Thomas More Church will still continue live streaming Masses as we know that many parishioners will not be comfortable returing to our Churches at the present time.

Because of the situation the Church finds herself in, the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays or Holy Days is removed until further notice.
