St Mary's & St John Bosco Parish - Fr Stephan Foster

Fr. Stephan Foster sadly passed away in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning. Although his death is of great sadness to us all as he was our Parish Priest for many years there could not have been a more fitting day for one of our priests to pass from this world to the next.

Fr Stephan died, fortified by the rites of the Church, as Fr Greg Tobin was able to attend him at his bedside on Maundy Thursday.

Fr Stephans Funeral Rites took place on Monday, 27th April 2020. He was interred at Saffron Hill cemetery with a group of about 12 invited individuals in attendance. Bishop Patrick led the Rites and spoke beautifully about Fr Stephan, focussing our thoughts on his generosity to so many parishioners, particularly noting his willingness to foster Charlie, and then become his guardian when his mother died.

Everyone attending was asked to remember quietly the many good times we had with Fr Stephan, and the support he had given each of us. May he rest in peace.

A Mass of celebration and remembrance is planned once the lockdown is lifted.

Saffron Hill cemetery is open to the public if anyone would like to visit his grave and offer prayers for Fr Stephan’s soul. His plot is situated right at the rear of the cemetery.

Bishop Patrick asks that we now pray for the happy repose of the soul of Fr Stephan as we keep his family and friends in our prayers at this time.
